The first thing I did when I finished transferred one of my domain was figuring out how to make it usable as bluesky handle.
This is pretty straightforward. Hell, you probably already knew how to do it, too. But there’s a catch: I don’t want to use apex domain for it. I want to use a subdomain.
This, too, is pretty straightforward. Oh yeah, for reference to me in the future or to anyone else: Go to your bluesky app (hopefully, by the time you read this there are more of them), click Settings on lefthand menu, click Account, click Handle. There’ll be a window pop-up. Click ‘I have my own domain’ (I assume you do have your own domain), and there’ll be a bunch of stuff you need to add to your registrar. Add your domain name, follow the direction, and you’re done!
But if you want your handle to direct to your subdomain, it’s pretty straightforward. Instead of _atproto.[mydomain], use _atproto.[subdomain].[domain].
And that’s it. That’s all.
Except, for some reason I can’t comprehend, it just didn’t work when I first attempted it. Admittedly, it was, like, on the evening, I’m on bed, and so on. More importantly, I’m on phone. So maybe some characters get cut or other such silliness with phone and autocorrect. Oh well!
Anyway, which means I can say: Yeah, I’m moving. The new address of this blog, such as it is, is on ursatempest.nefiture.com
But it feel remiss since lately all I’ve blogged is about meta matter; that is, about the blogging itself and the challenge thereof setting it up. So let’s write about something else: what I’ve been playing lately.
I’ve finished Shadowrun: Hongkong, complete with DLC levels. These are pretty great. I do think the precarity feeling never quite manage to go through, but dang, I’m veteran of gacha games. That’s precarity all the time, like you wouldn’t believe it, good gosh. And I really really don’t miss that feeling, so I guess that’s fine.
Anyway, I like the character. Gobbet and Isobel is pretty understated, I feel, but… well, that’s kinda why I like ’em, you know? They’re just regular gals, trying to get by in dystopic cyberpunk world (though I repeat myself). They lucked-out on getting reliable fixer on reasonably trusted protection, and hey, maybe they need to kowtow here and there, but it isn’t like Kindly Cheng demand it all the time. And that’s neat.
Racter and Gaichu is more out of average characters, so to speak. The extreme of form. I think I enjoyed how despite them being extreme, they’re also pretty fun to talk with. They can be very intense, but you can disagree with them, and they’re still pretty cool with it. I can see why they’re favorite.
And Duncan. Ah, the adopted and blood brother. I like his interaction with main character - in fact, I bring him pretty much in every mission. Despite him looking up at MC, he respond well if responded as bash brother. A little snark, a little bravado, with a touch of empathy.
That’s why it’s a big shame at the end I decided to go with Runners over him. I have to admit, the recent happenstance - look at posting date, please - does really make me sympathize how frightful it is to exist outside of system. Despite all the advantages and friends, the government remain one big mammoth that can destroy anything it displeases with.
Admittedly, considering extraterritoriality, how strong are Shadowrun governments, anyway? Oh well, details details.
But. Anyway. Yeah, I picked the best chance to return MC and him to legal area. I did still try to do him right, of course. I think he has good chance to get another chance to go legit. The ending is pretty bad, overall, but again: I get him. From his perspective, MC basically betrayed him twice; first by vanishing in backstory, then by effectively abandoning him.
The second game I’ve started is Duet Night Abyss. This is basically anime-style mobile game! Except not gacha, and good goddess I’m so happy about it. There’s fashion gacha, but it’s no biggie really. I’ve cleared the first and an interlude arc and it start a bit slow, but it get better pretty soon.
And that’s it, I think this is all the word I can have. See you later, perhaps in new site!
